An award-winning identity for a conversation intelligence API
C2A Awards 2020 · Brand Identity

At Wunderdogs I led the new identity for Symbl.ai, a conversation intelligence API. The project won the C2A Awards 2020 in Brand Identity (Branding).
The challenge
After raising US$1 million, Symbl.ai wanted a brand that matched its new moment: growing its developer community and winning enterprise contracts. Each audience looks for something different in a brand, and the identity had to speak to both without losing coherence.
The idea
I looked to the avant-garde, to Bauhaus functionalism and futurism. Collage became the heart of the system: a metaphor for how people communicate, piecing together fragments of conversation, and a practical tool for creating work for enterprise buyers and developers alike. The result is a flexible system that feels familiar and professional to companies, and creative and approachable to the developer community.
Deliverables
Visual identity, typography, color palette, graphic elements and patterns, collages, social media, website and brand merchandise such as t-shirts, backpacks and umbrellas.
